Revisiting the Corresponding-States-Based Correlation for Pool Boiling Critical Heat Flux
نویسندگان
چکیده
A corresponding-states correlation for predicting the critical heat flux (CHF) in pool boiling conditions is proposed, and only requires knowledge of physical property constants fluid at any temperature: molar mass, temperature, pressure, Pitzer acentric factor. If a fourth corresponding equation state (EoS) parameter added, more accurate CHF obtained matches Kutateladze–Zuber prediction within ±10% reduced temperature range 0.55–0.95. This way, can be easily predicted correlation’s validity by knowing basic properties fluid. Additionally, two correlations determining capillary length are proposed also do not rely on temperature- pressure-dependent properties. simpler using factor shown to imprecise, complex accounting EoS recommended. These fundamental further developments, which would allow values functionalized surfaces through studies influence interactions with other parameters, such as wetting active nucleation site density.

Experimental Study for Investigating the Mechanism of Heat Transfer near the Critical Heat Flux in Nucleate Pool Boiling
Heat transfer coefficient in nucleate pool boiling near critical heat flux at least one orderhigher than the convectional heat transfer modes. In this paper, an experimental setup isdesigned and fabricated to investigate the mechanism of heat transfer from boiling surface tobulk liquid near critical heat flux. The images of pool boiling near the high heat flux regionreveals that the individual ...
متن کاملDetermination of Pool Boiling Critical Heat Flux Enhancement in Nanofluids
Nanofluids are engineered colloids composed of nano-size particles dispersed in common fluids such as water or refrigerants. Using an electrically controlled wire heater, pool boiling Critical Heat Flux (CHF) of Alumina and Silica water-based nanofluids of concentration less than or equal to 0.1 percent by volume were measured. Silica nanofluids showed CHF enhancement up to 68% and there seems ...
متن کاملEnhanced pool-boiling heat transfer and critical heat flux on femtosecond laser processed stainless steel surfaces
In this paper, we present an experimental investigation of pool boiling heat transfer on multiscale (micro/ nano) functionalized metallic surfaces. Heat transfer enhancement in metallic surfaces is very important for large scale high heat flux applications like in the nuclear power industry. The multiscale structures were fabricated via a femtosecond laser surface process (FLSP) technique, whic...
متن کاملInsight into Mechanicsms and Review of Available Models for Critical Heat Flux (chf) in Pool Boiling
Critical Heat Flux (CHF) has been a subject of interest for boiling equipment designers from design as well safety as viewpoints. Although considerable data exists in literature, a fundamental knowledge of the mechanisms responsible for the CHF phenomenon is needed to develop better predictive methods and efficient enhancement strategies. A critical assessment of the CHF models available in the...
متن کاملFLOW VISUALIZATION AND STUDY OF CRITICAL HEAT FLUX ENHANCEMENT IN POOL BOILING WITH Al2O3-WATER NANOFLUIDS
Pool boiling heat transfer characteristics of Al2O3 -water nanofluids is studied experimentally using a NiCr test wire of 36 standard wire guage diameter. The experimental work mainly concentrated on (1) change of critical heat flux with different volume concentrations of nanofluid and (2) flow visualization of pool boiling using a fixed concentration of nanofluid at different heat flux values....
